Obverse with young head bust of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, reverse with plumes above ICH DIEN.
This is a most intriguing medal in that it offers no information by way of date or what it was struck to commemorate. The obverse portrait is similar to that on the 1860 medal struck to commemorate the opening of the Victoria Bridge in Montreal (BHM 2669), whereas the reverse feather design resembles that of a medal that BHM suggests was struck in 1872 to commemorate the thanksgiving of the recovery of The Prince of Wales (BHM 2930), which features a more mature obverse bust. Therefore, this medal is somewhat of an enigma and presumably very rare. Good Very Fine with some light blistering and underlying traces of original brilliance.
