Obverse with bust of James Ludovic Lindsay, the 26th Earl of Crawford, reverse with 5 line decorative legend. Edge engraved 'D Alan Stevenson 1950-1951. Philatelic Research: International Award.' The medal awarded annually from 1920 for a contribution to philately published in book form.

David Alan Stevenson FRSE, F.I.C.E., FRSGS (7 February 1891 – 22 December 1971) was a lighthouse engineer from the famous Stevenson lighthouse-builder family and noted amateur philatelist. His great-grandfather was the famous engineer Robert Stevenson. In 1951, Stevenson was awarded the Crawford Medal by the Royal Philatelic Society London for his work The Triangular Stamps of Cape of Good Hope.
