BHM 1981.
55mm. 100g. By W. Wyon.
Obverse with diademed head of Queen Victoria, reverse with youth seated reading a book, named in exergue to Thomas A. Dawson, For Classics, 1936.
Within glass lunettes joined by gold band, mint state and a spectacular example of the early Victoria portrait. Housed in fitted case of issue.
This medal originally realised a hammer price of £11,000 in a DNW sale dated 08/09/21 (lot 1396) where it was described as being gold. It was subsequently submitted to PCGS who assessed it as being silver and gilt, rather than gold (whilst also grading it SP66 - now removed from holder).
