Eimer 678.
68mm. 131.5g. By R. Yeo.
Obverse with Neptune seated upon a rock indicating a route to Mercury, reverse with 10 line legend.
This is a superb contemporary copy of the medal held in the British Museum that was donated by Ms Dorothea Banks c.1820. The edge of the medal has a thin line running around it which shows where two sides would have been joined to create this medal. This would most likely have been produced in the Victorian era and the original of this medal is excessively rare with very few examples known, none of which have recently come to market.
Extremely Fine.
