A relatively crude and very intriguing badge, probably made from lead. The obverse features the badge of The City of London with 'AUG 1805', reverse engraved 'ROBERT HUGHES - A FREEMAN - ROYAL EXCHANGE - 1804'.
We have not been able to find another example, nor find the exact reason for the production of this medal but the suspension loop suggests it was intended to be worn as some sort of identification badge. Presumably extremely rare and worthy of further research.
